Some already know the story and some do not. So here it is :) I met Clint when I was 14 and he was 15. I was shocked that I did not know who he was, since I basically knew everyone in New Plymouth. I was going to a stake dance and Kim (Toland) Jamison. Her dad was driving and they said we were going to pick up Clint Post and LJ Blay. I didn't know who either of them were. We picked up Clint last. As soon as I saw him I thought he was cute! The sliding door on the van was super picky and I was the only one in the back who knew how to close it Dennis and Kim asked me if I would. You had to hold the handle a certain way and slam the door a certain way. I shut the door and then fell into Clint's lap, I looked up at him for the first time and he literally took my breath away!
I had a huge crush on him, my friend said she had a crush on him, and there was a rivalry to get him for a few weeks, haha. Anyway, Clint was the first person that had ever held my hand. There were a few of us that always hung out and did stuff together. LJ Blay, DaWayne Perza, Clint Post, sometimes Whitnie Cleverley, and myself. We watched movies, went 4-wheeling, played board games, my mom put all of the guys to work every time they came over. This went on for about 2 years where the group of us plus or minus a few spent a lot of time together.
Of course when you are young there is a lot of sillyness too. We went through fazes of a couple of weeks at a time where we would not talk or hang out and then we would all be "cool" again. Clint was my first kiss, 4th of July weekend, when I was 15. It was just a silly little peck.
He went his way and I went mine. We would casually see each other and say hello, but that was about it. I went to his mission farewell talk and lunch at the park. He left on his mission, I finished up my senior year of High School. I never wrote him and he never wrote me. I went off to college. Dated guys here and there. Had one serious boyfriend and that is a whole other story that none of us want to get into haha. Clint got home from his mission, I talked to him maybe once.
One semester about 3 years ago, Caree and I went home for the weekend. I was driving and was super tired, Caree at the time did not know how to drive a standard, and I was falling asleep. I knew if I could call someone I would be able to stay awake. So out of nowhere I decided to call Clint. It was around 1 in the morning, and he happened to also be driving home from Colorado where he was going to Heavy Equipment Operating School. We talked on the phone the rest of the drive and spent most of the weekend together. He took me to dinner, and we went for a drive, we went to a scary cemetary, and just had fun! At the end of the weekend I told him that we couldn't date, it would be too complicated. I went back to Rexburg and he went back to Colorado. We would text here and there and talk on the phone here and there. I talked about him a lot, but wouldn't let myself think about the fact that we could be togehter. He got a puppy and sent me pictures of him and asked me to help him pick out a name. He ended up naming the puppy Bear and none of my ideas were perfect enough. :)
I went home another weekend in the spring of 2010. I had not seen Clint in a year and a half and we had not talked in about a year. I don't remember why I went home that specific weekend but I did. Our mutual friends Kerry Brown and Shalisa Slagle were getting married that weekend so I was glad that I was able to be home for it. Clint was one of the groomsmen and he says that he asked me to dance at the reception and I told him no. Honestly, I didn't even remember him being there which is really sad since he was in the wedding party! Again, I went back to school.
I graduated from BYU-Idaho with a BS in Child Development in April 2011 and continued living and working in Rexburg. One random day, the weekend after 4th of July I got a text from Clint. I had written Happy Birthday on his facebook the October before but that was all the contact that we had had. We texted a little bit, we talked on the phone a little bit just catching up. He had previously been engaged for 10 months and he ended the relationship around that same time we began talking again. We got to the point that we had to talk to each other every day. He asked me if he could come and visit me in Rexburg. I was scared because I had no idea what would happen. He came to see me July 18th-July 22nd. We had tons of fun! He stayed in a hotel in Rexburg while he visited. He came with 18 long stemmed roses. He says that I demanded them, I say that I gave him the hint that flowers would be nice and roses are my favorite. We looked at rings the second day he was visiting and he bought my rings and we got his ring on the day he left. He asked my dad's permission on the phone the next day. Then on August 6th, 2011 he proposed on the Rexburg Temple grounds. On a specific bench that we had sat on outside while he had visited. He had me completely convinced that my rings were still in Nevada where he was working and living at the time. We changed the wedding date 3 or 4 times over the next 2 days. We finally settled with September 23, 2011. So that is how it all began.... I know it is a long story, but it is a good one! We are currently living in Lovelock, Nevada.
